The Story Behind the Shoot

I set out on a solo hike up Bidean nam Bian, chasing the raw essence of Scotland. The clouds were low, the air was cold, and the entire valley felt like it was holding its breath. As I climbed higher, the landscape revealed itself in waves of mist and light. It was perfect for a cinematic shoot. This wasn't just a hike. It was a moment of stillness and scale, deep in the Highlands.

Filming Details

The hike began in the early morning, following steep, winding trails that offered sweeping views of Glencoe. I captured the journey with a mix of handheld shots, tripod setups, and a few drone passes when the wind allowed. My focus was on framing the scale and solitude, finding moments where the mountain swallowed me whole.

Editing & Post-Production

Edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve, I leaned into warm tones, deep shadows, and slow pacing to match the mood of the hike. The grade brings out the drama in the clouds and terrain. No voiceover. No narration. Just natural sound and movement.

What I Learned

There is something powerful about letting nature lead the story. I went into this hike with no script, just a feeling. The landscape gave me everything I needed — mood, texture, emotion. Sometimes the best stories are the ones you let unfold on their own.
