Believe Your Instincts
Overview
A visual and emotional journey across the Faroe Islands. "Believe Your Instincts" blends voice, landscape, and feeling into one filmic statement. Using an excerpt from Cillian Murphy’s SAG-AFTRA Foundation interview as the guiding voice, this piece captures the internal pull of instinct, set against the backdrop of windswept cliffs, empty villages, and cascading waterfalls.
Location
📍 Faroe Islands. Tjørnuvík, Kunoy, and surrounding isles.
The Story Behind the Shoot
This wasn’t a planned shoot. I arrived in the Faroes with a rough map, a camera, and one idea. Trust your instincts. I followed light and mood across the islands, from the crashing coastlines of Tjørnuvík to the half-forgotten village of Kunoy. It felt like the land was speaking. Quiet. Vast. Untouched. When I heard Cillian Murphy talk about trusting instinct in an interview, something clicked. That voice became the soul of the film.
Filming Details
Filming took place over several days as I moved between the islands capturing everything solo. I let the landscapes guide the visuals. Waterfalls at the edge of cliffs. Fog rolling through empty fields. The hum of distant waves. All shots were locked off on a tripod. I leaned into natural light and moments of stillness.
Editing & Post-Production
Edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve. I kept the pacing slow and deliberate. The grade sits somewhere between warm and cold to give it a timeless, grounded feel. Cillian Murphy’s voiceover brings weight and rhythm. The final cut is quiet, cinematic, and honest.

What I Learned
You don’t need a plan to find a story. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is follow a feeling. Let the place speak. Let the moment shape the narrative. Trusting instinct was more than just a theme. It became the entire process.
